The capital city of Morocco since 1912, situated on the Atlantic Ocean coast in the northeast of the country. It was formerly within the French protectorate of Morocco.

Rabat's Jewish cemetery has tombstones with inscriptions in Hebrew, French and Spanish. Important saints include Eliezer de Avila and Chalom Zaoui.

A few kilometers north of Rabat, a new Jewish museum has opened, near the Plage des Nations. Source [February 2002]
