For information on the former Jewish community of Newport, see Newport on JCR-UK.

CEMETERY:

The cemetery was established in 1859, with the first burial being in 1861. There is an additional plot, adjacent to the original plot, which had been acquired in 1946.

Access: The cemetery is locked, although as the ohel is now used as a synagogue, it is opened on the Sabbath. Source: David Shulman, Webmaster JCR-UK [2006]

See also Cemetery Scribes - Newport, which includes images of some of the headstones [January 2017].
