Coat of arms of Şimleu Silvaniei Şimleu Silvaniei (Hungarian: Szilágysomlyó, German: Schomlenmarkt, Shamloy [Yid]) is a town in Sălaj County, Transylvania, Romania with a population of 16,066 people (2002 census). Is located near the ancient Dacian fortress Dacidava. Three villages administered by the town are Bic (Bükk), Cehei (Somlyócsehi) and Pusta (Csehipuszta). 47°13′50″N 22°48′00″E, 50 miles NW of Cluj-Napoca (Kolozsvár), 39 miles S of Satu Mare (Szatmár), 12 miles W of Zalău (Zilah).Jewish population: 782 (in 1880), 1,496 (in 1941)
