Coat of arms of Ettenheim 48°15' N, 07°49' E, 17 miles N of Freiburg im Breisgau, in Ortenaukreis, W Baden-Württemberg, near the French border a town in the Ortenaukreis. 1900 Jewish population: 100. In 1973 it was incorporated into the Ortenaukreis. Districts: Ettenheim (Kernstadt), Altdorf, Ettenheimmünster, Ettenheimweiler, Münchweier, and Wallburg. near the Rhine River in France. Since 1975 Altdorf is part of Ettenheim and lies just to the north of Ettenheim, proximate to Strasbourg, France. For many years the Jewish population was 20% of its total population and shared resources and intermarried with nearby Jewish communities in Ettenheim, Friesenheim, Kippenheim, Lahr, Nonnenweiler, Orschweier, Rust and Schmieheim.
