CALDEN MEIMBRESSEN: 34379 Hesse
one extensive family only. Meimbressen is near Kassel, Germany. Now, its formal name is Calden Meimbressen in the county or Kreis Hofgeismar. The cemetery is located at the edge of Calden Meimbressen, beside a pasture where sheep graze. The entrance to the cemetery is a huge iron gate about sixteen feet wide, with a continuous hedge approximately five feet in height. The cemetery is at least a hundred yards long by thirty yards wide. The cemetery is not divided into special sections; however, suicides are buried away from the general population near the border. The stones run down the slope in four long rows. The gravestones are approximately 4.5 feet tall and very uniform throughout the cemetery. The inscriptions are German on the side facing the body and Hebrew on the back.
