RAUISCHHOLZHAUSEN: 35085 HesseĀ (Gerz)
The cemetery contains the graves of Jews from both Rauischholzhausen and nearby Wittelsberg. The cemetery is located on a hillside in a park called Landschafts Schutzgebiet near the Gefassversuchsstation Phytotron. The street leading to this is Obere Hohle. The cemetery appeared undamaged. There were many people from Wittelsberg and Holzhausen buried there. Some also from Mardorf. The oldest grave I could read was 1870, but the older stones were no doubt the worn ones with all Hebrew which I could not read. The newest stone I saw was from a death in 1954. Based on the photos I took, it appears there were about 50 upright stones. Source: Eric Bloch; This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. 2200 W.
