SCHEDEN incorporating DANKELSHAUSEN: 37127 Lower Saxony (Niedersachsen) (Gerz, Peters).

DISTRICT: Dransfeld, Landkreis Göttingen.

LOCATION OF CEMETERY:To the east of the village, Am Mühlenberg approx. here.

IN USE:

  • Reported to have began in a small grove east of the village in around 1770. Last burial said to have taken place in 1881.

NUMBER OF GRAVESTONES: 28.

NOTES:

  • The cemetery's ownership passed to the Association of Jewish Communities in Lower Saxony in 1960.
  • In the early 1960s the badly neglected cemetery was restored by local Dankelshausen school children. Presently the cemetery is regularly cared for by the local Minister of the Protestant church.
