NEW CEMETERY: Gartenstrasse, between the streets ""An der Petrischule " and "Papenbrink" (hall 4, 1 and 2). Used 1839 - 1941. 18 visible gravestones and fragments of more than 100 gravestones. The Nazis almost completely destroyed the cemetery, but not in November 1938. On 16 Apr.1943, the city noted on the questionnaire of the National Institute that "the gravestones have been preserved." The destruction was at the direction of  the garrison commander. The exact circumstances are still being researched. (Email from Fritz Ostkämper, 28.Aug. 2008). From the gravestone remains two monuments were built after 1945, which are located on the property left of the midway. Some of the inscriptions are still legible on the fragments. Splendor believed that the cemetery until 1937 had 177 burials.[Sep 2012]
