Machpelah Cemetery: Not a Jewish cemetery, apparently the Neill family had a family plot within the grounds.One son became a notorious criminal called Hoodoo Brown but named Hyman Neill. The Neill family was a traditional Southern family from Lee County, Virginia settled here in the 1830s. Hyman's father practiced law and would have joined the Confederacy when the American Civil War began, however, he decided he could not disavow his oath to support the Constitution and ended up joining the Union.
