See HERRLISHELM and Ribeauvillé and Bergheim. Near Colmar (Alsace, Haut-Rhin). In 1375, some Jewish families acquired the right of residence in Ribeauvillé at the same time as in Hattstatt and in Bergheim from a privilege granted by Leopold, archduke of Austria, dated from Basel on August 9th. On the same date, Archduke Leopold II gave the right to the inhabitants of Bergheim if the Jews paid him. [January 2008]
